WILLIAM SUBER ‘BILL’ HUGGINS

William Suber “Bill” Huggins, 86, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Sept. 9, 2013, at his home in Union City, Tenn., surrounded by his family, who were holding his hand, and his loving wife who never left his side.

Services will be held on Sat., Sept. 14, at the Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Andalusia, with visitation from noon and services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. His son, Dan Huggins, will officiate.

He was born in Andalusia on Nov. 21, 1926. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Sammy Dewitt and Vera Mae Garrett Huggins; his younger brother, Samuel Farris Huggins, and Farris’ wife, Linda.

He was a member of the Exchange St. Church of Christ in Union City, Tenn., for the past five years. He retired after 62 years of preaching beginning at the age of 18. He preached for several churches of Christ throughout the southeast. He served in World War II as Private First Class medic. He was a graduate of Faulkner University (formerly Alabama Christian College and Montgomery Bible School).

He is survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his brother, Horace (Doris) Huggins of Athens; his sister, Jeannette (Harold) Pierce of Dothan; four children and their spouses, Gail and James Wroten of Booneville, Miss., Marilyn and T.J. Senter of Hot Springs, Ark., Loretta and Jerry Tennison of Marietta, Ga., and Dan and Julie Huggins of Union City, Tenn.

He was married to his wife of 64 years and three months, Dorothy Campbell Huggins.

Pallbearers will be Blake Huggins, Brad Caldwell, Jerry Tennison, Jed Tennison, Terry Pierce and Sammy Huggins.

JANICE HUMPHRIES

Janice Humphries, 62, of Opp, passed away Sun., Sept. 8, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services were held on Wed., Sept. 11, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Buford Smith officiating and interment following in Stone Lake Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Roger Humphries; on, Joseph Humphries; daughters, Rena Burkhalter and Annie Humphries; mother, Myrtis Smith, all of Opp; sister, Joyce Carroll of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Kayla Gay, Greg Gay, Leanne Gay, Thomas Gay, Adrian Humphries, Caitlin Humphries, Stephen Reynolds, Kyle Humphries, Haylee Humphries, Essence Hopkins and Christian Hopkins; and great-grandchild, Nathaniel Gay.
