Straughn’s 35-6 region victory over Southside Selma last week and a couple top five losses in Class 3A propelled the Tigers to No. 7 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s most recent football poll, which was released today.

SHS received enough votes to garner the bump in ratings.

The Tigers are still one spot below Fayette County, who received 130 sixth-place votes, or 22 more than SHS.

Andalusia received 25 votes in Class 4A, but wasn’t ranked in the poll.

Straughn travels to Mobile to face Cottage Hill Christian Academy this week, while Andalusia visits Thomasville.
