ROY E. OWENS

Roy E. Owens, 86, of Red Level, passed away on Tues., Oct. 8, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Fri., Oct. 11, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Wilson officiating and interment following in Fairmount Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Owens; son, Donald (Lee) Owens; sisters, Catherine McCarty, all of Red Level, Frances (David) Little of Houston, Dean (Cecil) Kelly and Sarah Williams, all of Luverne; brother, Jerome (Sonya) Owens of Brantley; and grandchildren, Duane Allen Owens, Heidi Bedell and Troy Mitchell; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Darrell Owens; parents, William and Mattie Beasley; brothers, Lloyd Owens, J.T. (Buddy) Owens, W.A. Beasley; sister, Geraldine Stropes; and several step-brothers and step-sisters.

LAWRENCE ‘L.T.’ SANDERS

Lawrence “L.T.” Sanders, 83, of the Wing Community, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Tues., Oct. 8, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today, Fri., Oct. 11, at Keahey Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Kelley and the Rev. Glenn Alley officiating. Burial will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

He served our country in the U.S. Army, and worked for the U.S. Forest Service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theda Sue Sanders; parents, TA and Nettie Lee Sanders; sister, Stella Pruitt; and brother-in-law, Virgil Lewis.

Survivors include sons, Danny (Vickie) Sanders of Gautier, Miss., and Dale (Melissa) Sanders of Birmingham; daughters, Lisa (Doug) Haney of Andalusia and Cathy (Glen) Alley of Anadarko, Okla.; sister, Ilene Lewis of Wing; brothers, OG (Gladys) Sanders of Andalusia and Darrell (Cullene) Sanders of Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Leigh (Tony) Brown, Justin Sanders, Chris Sanders, Caroline (Jeremy) Boyette, Andrew Haney, Dawson Alley, Brandon Alley and Logan Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Nataleigh Brown, Addison Brown and Anna-Kate Boyette; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Jean Norris.

Pallbearers will be Justin Sanders, Chris Sanders, Andrew Haney, Dawson Alley, Brandon Alley, Logan Sanders, Tony Brown and Jeremy Boyette.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Gilder and Harold Turner.

FLORENCE FONTAINE

Florence Fontaine, 78, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., Oct. 7, 2013, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., on Mon., Oct. 14, at East Highland Baptist Church with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

She was from Gansevoort, N.Y., where she raised her children. She worked for many years in manufacturing at Millinckrodt Catheter Company and retired to Alabama in 1990. She spent much of her time doing volunteer work for Acts of Kindness. She was a member of East Highland Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and a son, John Merriam.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Harrelson and Bonnie Merriam, both of Alabama, Tina O’Reilly of New York and Michael Fontaine of Georgia; foster sister, Elaine Daigle of New York; sister-in-law, Margaret Lapoint of Alabama; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

JAMES CURTIS HARRELSON

James Curtis Harrelson, 80, of Red Level, passed away on Tues., Oct. 8, 2013, at his daughter’s residence.

Graveside services were held Thurs., Oct. 10, at Bushfield Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Derwood Cleland officiating.

Survivors include his significant other of 35 years, Jeanette Williams of Mobile; son, Steve (Trish) Harrelson of Gantt and Faron (Cecelia) Brewer of Spanish Fort; daughter, Shelia Berry and Sherry (Randy) Coxwell, both of Red Level; sister, Gladys Bush of Mobile; grandchildren, Steve Harrelson, Amanda Hart, Austin Berry, Savannah Mock, Randall Coxwell, Kayla Ann Coxwell and Cayla Brewer; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Head, Sierra Head, Ivy Hart, Tori Hart, Johnnie Coxwell, Tracy Coxwell, Brendon Coxwell and Makayla Coxwell.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Burt Harrelson; and sisters, Verlie Montgomery and Myrtle Lavender.

DEAN HUMPHRIES

Dean Humphries, 75, of Opp, passed away on Mon., Oct. 7, 2013, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services were held on Thurs., Oct. 10, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bufford Smith officiating. Interment followed in Stone Lake Gardens with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons, Robert Humphries and Lane Humphries, both of Texas, and Joey (Karen) Humphries; daughters, Rena Burkhalter and Annie Humphries, all of Opp; and grandchildren, Crystal Humphries, Jeffrey Humphries, Kayla Gay, Greg Gay, Lee Gay, Thomas Gay, Andrianne Humphries, Caitlin Humphries, Kyle Humphries, Haley Humphries, Stephen Reynolds, Essence Hopkins and Christian Hopkins.
