The Cynosure Club met at the lovely home of Danna Smith on the first Wednesday of October. Serving as co-hostesses were Lucy Brady and Arlene Nettles. Twenty members were present.

Rebecca Brewer, CEO of Andalusia Regional Hospital, presented an informative program on recent changes and new procedures available at the local hospital. These included the new cancer center, the use of the Internet in the quick diagnosis and treatment of heart attack or stroke patients, and the ongoing recruitment of additional medical staff. Brewer emphasized how fortunate we are to live in this wonderful small town.

A gift was given to the Rice and Beans Ministry at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in honor of Ms. Brewer for taking time to speak at the Cynosure Club meeting.

After a short business meeting the members enjoyed a time of fellowship. The lovely fall arrangements in the breakfast room and on the back porch added to the festivities. The tea table in the dining room was covered with a beautiful cutwork linen cloth, and displayed a centerpiece consisting of a raised vase filled with asparagus fern and white hydrangeas. The hostesses served an assortment of tea sandwiches, petite fudge squares, toasted pecans, and a warm artichoke dip.

The November meeting will take place at the new auditorium at the Dixon Center. The members are looking forward to meeting at this facility.
