Red Level’s Spencer Stallworth had a double-double 20 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Tigers to a 56-45 win over Zion Chapel at Straughn’s Boys Christmas Tournament on Thursday night.

Stallworth and the Tigers went back and forth with the Rebels in the first period early.

However, RLS amped up its pressure and pulled away during the last five minutes to take a 21-11 lead after the first period.

RLS outscored the Rebels 11-10 in a close second period to take a 32-21 lead at the break.

Tigers coach Allen Catrett said the press attempt in the first half could’ve been a little bit better.

“We had it (the effort) in spurts,” Catrett said.

RLS took a 38-24 lead with 4:49 left in the third period, and increased its lead to 42-24 after Stallworth got a steal and a bucket a short time later.

RLS led 46-29 after the third period.

With the Tigers leading 46-31 with about five minutes left in the game, the Rebels bounced back and went on to outscore RLS 14-10 to cut the lead back to a respectable 11 points.

During those last minutes, the Tigers missed a lot of high-percentage shots in the paint, whether it be layups or jump shots.

Jeff Perdue chipped in nine points for RLS. William Crawford added eight.

Red Level tips off against Straughn tonight at 7:30.
