Andalusia’s girls put together a good defensive game against Straughn on Saturday, but its offensive turnovers proved costly as the Lady Tigers won 48-26 in regular season action.

AHS coach Brad Garner said the girls also didn’t shoot the ball well.

“We were handling the ball under a lot of pressure,” Garner said. “We were depending on our defense to keep us in the game.”

Straughn held a 12-point lead at the break over the Lady Bulldogs.

“Straughn is very good on their press,” Garner said. “(Lady Tigers coach) Scott (Kinsaul) does a good job with it.”

Jacie Williamson led the Lady Tigers with 28 points. Katelyn Kinsaul chipped in nine points.

Andalusia’s Alexis Lawrence led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points.

The third-ranked Lady Tigers played Red Level last night, and will be back in action at home against Georgiana.

Andalusia hosts Carroll-Ozark tonight.

Garner said right now, the team is focused on itself.

“It doesn’t matter what the other team does,” he said. “We’re trying to develop as players and get better ourselves.”
