RLS boys win 2 over PHS; Lady Eagles win

Red Level won in boys action over Pleasant Home tonight.

The Tigers defeated the Eagles 46-42 in a close game in varsity boys; and won 30-27 in B-team action.

Pleasant Hone’s girls dominated the game over RLS in a 41-15 rout.

RLS hosts W.S. Neal tomorrow night, while PHS visits Kinston.

RLS boys coach Allen Catrett said tonight’s game was the first time in a while that his Tigers finished a basketball game.

“That’s something we’ve been struggling with and they did a better job of finishing the game,” Catrett said.

Red Level led 9-8 after the first period, but PHS surged ahead in the second to take a 22-20 lead at halftime.

The Tigers bounced back in the third to take a 32-31 lead going into the fourth period.

Spencer Stallworth led the Tigers with 24 points, and William Crawford chipped in 10.

Pleasant Home’s Troy Fantroy had 15 points. Jon Cole Chesser had 12.

In B-tea action, Javarius Grooms led with 19 points in the Tigers’ 3-point win.

Pleasant Home’s Christopher Adams scored 14 points.

The Lady Eagles’ defense was too much for the Lady Tigers as they held RLS to four points in the first half.

PHS outscored RLS 21-6 in the second half.

“We did a good job defensively,” PHS girls coach Jeff Davis said.

Jade Self led PHS with 14 points.

Red Level’s Hannah Colvin scored six points.
