Opp will begin its 2014 football schedule on the road at Class 2A Luverne on Aug. 22.

The Bobcats released their newest football schedule a short time after the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board of Control approved a new round of reclassification realignments and allowed football teams 11 weeks to schedule 10 games at its winter meeting last month.

The board voted to approve the addition of a seventh classification at the meeting.

The additional week during the season will allow teams the opportunity to better schedule non-region contests.

Opp will be playing in Class 3A, Region 1 with Hillcrest-Evergreen (who dropped from 4A), Geneva, T.R. Miller, Excel, Bayside Academy and Cottage Hill.

After the season-opener against LHS, the Bobcats host Straughn in week two before beginning region play against the Jaguars.

OHS will have an open week on Sept. 12. The Andalusia game will be held Sept. 26.

The Bobcats’ regular season ends on Oct. 31 at home against Elba.
