Opp’s Lady Bobcats have been ranked No. 9 in Class 3A in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association softball poll of the season.

The poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon, places baseball and softball teams in the top 10 of their respective classifications.

ASWA’s prep committee submits nominations from around the state each week.

The Lady Bobcats improved to 6-1 overall after a 1-0 victory over Excel Tuesday night. OHS beat Brantley 2-1 on Saturday to win the Andalusia Fastpitch Tournament.

In the baseball poll, Class 4A Andalusia (7-6) and Opp (6-6) were nominated, but not ranked.
