The 2014-15 school year will begin Aug. 5 for teachers and on Aug. 11 for Andalusia City Schools students, based on a calendar adopted by the school board Monday night.

• Aug. 5, 6, 7 – Teacher inservice

• Aug. 11 – School starts

• Sept. 1 – Labor Day holiday

• Nov. 11 – Veteran’s Day holiday

• Nov. 24-28 – Thanksgiving holidays

• Dec. 22- Jan. 2 – Christmas/New Year’s holidays

• Jan. 5 – Teacher inservice

• Jan. 6 – Second semester begins

• Jan. 19 – King/Lee holiday

• Feb. 16 – Presiden’ts Day holiday

• March 30 – April 3 – Spring Break

• May 21 – Last day of school for students

• May 25 – Memorial Day holiday

 

In other business, the board:

• Hired Garrett Davis as a bus driver, replacing Michael Bush, who resigned.

• Hired Jeneatte Smith as a building service worker at AES, through the end of the school year, replacing Bettie Holmes, who retired.

• Approved a supplement for Randy Bryant as an assistant football coach to oversee weightlifting at AHS. The supplement was funded by the AHS Booster Club.

• Approved a supplement for Teresa Herring as an assistant girls basketball coach.
