Dorothy W. Carter

Mrs. Dorothy W. Carter, 85, died Tues., March 18, 2014, in Gulfport, Miss.

Mrs. Carter was born in Andalusia, and she and her husband had been residents of Gulfport since 1960. She was a secretary at United Electric Co., working with her husband, John R. Carter, until 1985. In 1979, she and her son, Rick Carter, owned and operated Carter’s Men’s Wear until she retired in 1989.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the Gulf Coast Art Association, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulfport where she was also a member of the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Carter; her parents, Barney Floyd and Carmen Amos Wiggins; two sisters, Betty Pollard and Ocie W. Owens; and two brothers, Lamar Wiggins and Buster Wiggins.

She is survived by her five sons, Jimmy L. Carter of Biloxi, Sammy Carter (Rose), Rick Carter (Stephanie), and Joey Carter, all of Gulfport, and William Carter of Perkinston; a sister, Rosanell Walker; two brothers, Hinton Wiggins (Linda) and Barney Wiggins, all of Andalusia; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Sat., March 22, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gulfport where friends my visit beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.

EUNICE BUCKELEW

Eunice P. Buckelew, 86, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., March 17, 2014, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be today, Thurs., March 20, at 2 p.m. from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Wed., March 19, at Foreman Funeral Home. The Rev. James “Red” Coleman and the Rev. Leroy Cole will officiate services.

Buckelew is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Kenneth) Godwin of Andalusia; grandchildren, Zac Godwin and Gabby Godwin; and brothers, Daniel (Jean) Peterson of Lockhart and Billy Jay Peterson of Auburndale, Fla.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howell G. Taylor and Cecil Buckelew; brothers, Marvin Peterson, Oliver Peterson, Joe Peterson, Foy Peterson and Roy Peterson; sisters, Elender short and Lillice Mae Peterson.

Pallbearers will be James Jones, Windell Crowell, Jeff Hobson, Floyd Lee, Andy Riley and Eddie Rowell.
