Andalusia got two big area wins over Hillcrest-Evergreen Friday night in Evergreen.

The Bulldogs beat the Jaguars 11-0 in game two of the series to force a third-game decider, in which they won 14-7.

These wins came after a night where AHS fell apart in the field as it committed eight errors in a 6-3 loss to HHS.

Bulldogs baseball coach Tyler Dent said Thursday night’s game was huge for the boys.

“Those were two big wins for us,” Dent said. “(Thursday night) was tough. I give Hillcrest and Coach (John) Dugger a lot of credit. Those kids played hard and put the pressure on us. They really played the game the right way.

“Our boys came out (Friday night) and hit the ball well,” he said. “We kept the errors to a minimum.”

Grayson Campbell went 3-for-4 wit two RBIs to lead AHS (11-7, 2-1 in Class 4a, Area 2) in game one. Brayden Burkhardt and Quinton Maddox had two hits and one RBI each.

Maddox earned the win on the mound in game one, and Henderson won game two.

In the 14-7 victory, Campbell, Henderson, Will Harrison and Justin Scherzinger had two hits each.

In other area baseball action, Opp defeated Excel 5-4 by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Bobcats improve to 4-1 in Class 3A, Area 2 action.

Straughn defeated Eufaula 7-0.
