Flood warning lifted; severe weather still possible

A flash flood warning for Northwestern Covington County has been lifted, but that does not mean residents should let down their guards against severe weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, severe weather is still likely today in Covington County. Damaging winds, up to 60 mph, large hail and isolated tornadoes are still a possibility.

According to NWS, the threat will dissipate from the west, as the front moves across the area.

Complications from flooding, due to some areas receiving more than four inches of rain, are also expected.

County engineer Darren Capps said there are no road closures at this time, but added several trees have been reported down across the county. Capps also said water covering the roadway has been reported in several areas, but added those water levels have likely receded below street level at this time.
