JULIE PATE MOORE

Julie Pate Moore, 68, of Tuscaloosa, died at home Sun., April 6, 2014. She was born Oct. 15, 1945. She married Joseph Emil Moore on Sept. 20, 1967. Funeral services will be held Fri., April 11, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Paul, Ala., with visitation one hour prior to services.  Burial will follow at the church.

Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Emil Moore and her parents, A.R. and Lucy Nell Pate.

She is survived by sons, David (Dedra) Moore and Joseph Tod (Christa) Moore and grandchildren, Hayley and Parker.

Moore was a longtime resident of Tuscaloosa and of Paul. She graduated from Evergreen High School in 1963, and attended UAB for 2 years. She worked for South Central Bell for many years. She worked for the history department at the University of Alabama for 25 years. After retiring from the University of Alabama, she started from scratch as a local business named Cedar Creek Merchandise, where she met locals and made friends easily. She maintained contact with many. She always had interest for others and was filled with compassion throughout her life. She loved being outdoors and working in the yard. She was an avid reader of newspapers, biographies and a Christian. She was a comfort to her family and instilled drive, motivation and compassion in her sons. She loved her husband, Joe, sons, grandchildren and life, and will be greatly missed by the ones who knew her and loved her.

GEORGIA MOORE BLACKMON

Georgia Moore Blackmon, 88, of Gantt, passed away Tues., April 8, 2014, at Andalusia Manor.

Blackmon was born Oct. 19, 1925 to Lewis Walker Moore and Emma Estelle Callaway Moore. A graduate of Troy State University, she lettered in women’s basketball during her college days. She was a retired teacher, having taught three years at Rose Hill School and 30 years at Red Level High School, where she was the Beta Club sponsor. She was the last living member of Gantt Methodist Church and was also active in the Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held Thurs., April 10, at 3 p.m. from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Able Cemetery. Visitation will be at today at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

Blackmon is survived by her daughter, Connie Blackmon Cauthen of Gantt; grandson, Timothy Hendon Cauthen of Gantt; and her faithful pup, Hunnybunny.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hendon “Red” Blackmon and son-in-law, Jerry L. Cauthen.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Lee Johns, Bubba Evers, Buddy Johns, Josh Rudder, Marion Johnson and Jim Johnson.

Memorials may be made to the Able Cemetery Fund, c/o Gantt Baptist Church.

BRENDA HELLEN POOLE

Brenda Hellen Poole, 70, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., April 7, 2014, at Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services were held Wed., April 9, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Stewart officiating. Interment followed in Able Cemetery in Gantt.

Poole is survived by sisters, Barbara Teel of Andalusia and Bobbie Poole Cassady Blankenship of Alexander City; step -sisters, Virginia Kirkland of Andalusia and Mary Etheridge of Houston.

Pallbearers were Jeff Bundrick, Casey Teel, Kenneth Teel, Randy Watson Jr. and Chase Watson.

SIBYL BASS DAY

Sibyl Bass Day, 87, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., April 7, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held today, Thurs., April 10, at 10 a.m. from Foreman funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Day is survived by her husband, Cecil Day of Andalusia; daughters, Barbara D. Henderson of Montgomery and Tammi D. (Royce) Bass of Andalusia; sons, George A. (Joyce) Day and

Larry Day of Andalusia; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; sisters, Mavis McVay of Andalusia, Marguerite Martin of Montgomery, Betty Wood of Virginia and Andrey Wilson of Andalusia; and brother, Quinton Bass of Andalusia.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Bass, Tyler Wingard, Chris Day, Tim Day, Larry Vann and Cliff Ellis.
