Florala Memorial Hospital will reopen this spring as a treatment center.

The Florala Clinic on the campus of Florala Memorial Hospital will officially reopen on Monday, April 14, with hours set to accommodate busy schedules.

Gabriela Engels said the clinic will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The facility is staffed with two doctors, four nurse practitioners, two nurses, to nurse assistants, two X-ray techs and two office employees, she said.

Even though the official opening isn’t until Monday, the clinic had a soft opening this past week, and had nine people on the schedule to be seen on Wednesday.

The clinic provides primary care services, and Engels said she hopes to add a cardiologist who will see patients once each week in the near future.

The clinic has a new phone number, which is 334-574-9514.

Engels has leased the hospital facility and plans to open a drug and alcohol treatment center, Serendipity Healthy Living Community, there later this year. She also purchased the Gitenstein estate, and has converted the home to provide housing for clients who are transitioning out of treatment.

Part of her development plan requires those in the transitional phase of recovery to work. To facilitate that, she plans to open two businesses downtown. The first, Donuts and More, will open in May next door to Cox Hardware. The business, which will have a local manager, will serve sweets, coffee and teas, and also will have a meeting room in the back for special events.

She is currently finalizing plans for the second business.
