Pleasant Home scored eight runs in the top of the third inning and went on to beat Andalusia 18-4 in softball action on Tuesday night.

Going into the third, the Lady Eagles led 4-2 and scored their runs to go ahead by 10 on four hits and two errors. AHS committed four errors in the deciding inning.

For the game, several Pleasant Home girls had multiple hits.

Anna Bulger went 4-for-4 with four singles and an RBI; Brianna Dozier had six RBIs on three hits; and Sissy Martin had three hits and an RBI.

“We hit the ball well today, which was nice,” PHS coach Bradley Stephens said.

In the third inning, Bulger and Cassidy Godwin hit back-to-back RBI singles, and Abby Walker hit a two-run double for a 8-2 lead. Walker later scored on an error.

Dozier, who reached on a fielder’s choice, scored on an error for a 10-2 lead.

Taylor McGhee ended the scoring spree with a two-run double.

Andalusia’s Emily Terry, who made a stellar diving catch in the first inning, reached base on a single and later scored on an interference call in the bottom of the third.

Dozier and Helena Weaver each hit two-run doubles in the fourth for a 16-3 advantage.

Andalusia’s Haley Harper hit a sac fly to score Merikal McCaskill in the bottom of the fourth.

Pleasant Home’s Jade Self scored on a wild pitch and Linsey Smithart hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Eagles improved to 11-9 on the season with the win.

Stephens said the girls played well and a big reason why was because the errors were cut down.

“We’re really trying to work on that,” Stephens said of the errors. “Defensively, we play better when we don’t make errors. We hit the ball better when we don’t make errors defensively. I can look back at a bunch of our games where we were error free or had maybe one or two, and we either won the game or hit the ball well.”

McGhee struck out three and allowed three runs in four innings to earn the win on the mound.

Emily Terry and McCaskill scored two runs each for AHS.

Pleasant Home and Andalusia will be back in action on Thursday at the Lady Eagles’ annual softball tournament, which starts at 3 p.m.
