Locals get up close with animals

Looking for a wild time this weekend? If so, look no farther then the Covington Sportsmans Expo where the crew from CMT’s “Gator 911” was on hand Friday giving sports enthusiasts a chance for a hands-on experience with some large reptiles.

The show, featuring an assortment of alligators, snakes, turtles and other animals, entertained crowds twice during Friday’s opening day of the expo and can be seen again today at noon and 2 p.m. in the Covington Arena. They will also perform shows Sunday at 9:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

The expo also features a large assortment of sporting vendors, as well as a number seminars and shows featuring subjects raining from archery to turkey hunting.

Tickets for the expo are $10 for adults; $8 for youth; $8 for adults with a military ID; and free for children four and under.
