Work will soon begin on Andalusia next mural, Murals Committee chairwoman Pat Palmore reported to the city council Tuesday.

The next mural, “Parade on Main Street,” will include some history of law enforcement in Andalusia, the first women’s jury in Alabama, which was seated in Andalusia, and a parade with several businesses in the background.

Committee members have already raised the money for the mural, Palmore said, but asked the council to contract with artist Wes Hardin so that the mural, to be located on a building owned by Roger and Suzanne Boyington on East Three Notch, can be completed before Hardin travels to Michigan to complete several murals.

The design has not yet been completed, Palmore said, adding she expects it to be finalized on July 29.
