Residents of the Pensacola, Fla., area are getting a taste of the talent of Covington County as Andalusia’s Drew Wiggins has recently opened an antiques and interior-design store in the heart of the city.

Located on the corner of Davis Highway and Texar Drive, Drew’s Antiques and Interiors is hopefully filling a void in the Pensacola market, Wiggins said.

“There really wasn’t a great antique and interior store in Pensacola,” he said of his choice for a home base. “Pensacola’s very historic and has a lot of history. And it’s near the beach,” he quipped.

Born and reared in Andalusia, Wiggins said he moved to Pensacola around four months ago specifically to open his new business, which also provides residents with an interior-design service.

“We opened about two weeks ago,” Wiggins said. “I love antiques, and it’s always been a passion of mine. I’ve always enjoyed and loved interior design and decorating.”

Wiggins said the fact that he will travel outside of his store for on-site interior design is something he hopes will add another dimension to his business.

“I’ve done (interior design) for a lot of people,” he said. “For a long time, it wasn’t really something people were doing because of the economy. But now, it’s kind of coming back around and I’ve been doing that.”

But, Wiggins said, there is plenty to be found in the store as well.

“We offer antiques, as well as home interiors, furniture, gift lines like candles, higher-end dinner ware,” he said. “We do outdoor kitchens; we have big green eggs; outdoor pottery.”

In addition to his store and work in Pensacola, Wiggins said he is currently doing the interior-design work on a restaurant in Navarre Beach, Fla. The owners of the restaurant, he said, also own Andalusia’s Samurai Japanese restaurant and will be announcing opening dates soon.
