Greyhound adds stop here

Covington County residents and those in surrounding areas now have an additional means of transportation.

Greyhound Lines has opened a bus stop in Andalusia, according to company officials.

Lanesha Gipson, spokesperson for the company said Thursday, that Greyhound began operations in Andalusia in July.

“Greyhound customers can conveniently board at the Stop-N-Go Convenience Store at 630 Martin Luther King Express Way,” she said.

Gipson said Greyhound offers two daily schedules to destinations across the United States, including to Montgomery, Houston and Miami.

Gipson said those who wish to travel north toward Birmingham should board the bus at 7:50 a.m., and those traveling south toward Mobile and beyond may board at 5 p.m.

Gipson said customers can purchase tickets by phone at 1-800-231-2222 or online at greyhound.com.

A quick search of the website showed that a trip from Andalusia to Birmingham would take eight hours and 25 minutes, with stops in Enterprise, Dothan, Abbeville, Eufaula, Columbus, Ga., Alex City, Sylacauga and Childersburg.

Cost for the trip is $32 for a one-way, if purchased online and $64 for round trip.

A roundtrip trip from Andalusia to Miami would cost $422.50, if purchased online. The estimated travel time would be 23 hours and 15 minutes.

A trip from Andalusia to Houston is estimated to take 12 hours and 55 minutes and would cost $275.50, if purchased online.
