Hundreds of Opp’s faithful packed into the high school’s gymnasium Saturday afternoon for the annual Meet the Bobcats event.

While there, the Bobcats’ football team, cheerleaders, marching band, volleyball players and middle school football team introduced themselves one by one to the crowd.

In addition to the high school players introducing themselves, the crowd was entertained by a younger cheerleaders, who put on a few routines with the aid of a few varsity squad members.

Near the end of the event, new Bobcats head football coach Brent Hill spoke to the eager-to-listen crowd.

“I thought it was amazing,” Hill said about the event. “I’ve been to schools where they’ve had pep rallies, but I’ve never been to one that’s thrown one during the preseason.”

Hill also said it was cool to see the color guard, band and other athletes being shown support from adults.

Additionally, he said he told the crowd there that Opp usually has a good showing at home and away games, and that the trend should continue.

The Bobcats visit Luverne on Thursday night to start their regular season.
