Four of Andalusia’s five new police officers were introduced at the city council meeting Tuesday night.

They include:

• Jason Strickland, who began his career as a dispatcher with the Opp Police Depa-rtment, and was Covington County jailer. He became a certified officer while working in Lincoln, Ala., and also has done federal work.

• Bobby Jones most recently with Ma-ulden, Mo., Police Department, where he was a member of the major crimes task force.

• Kyle Lee of Andalusia graduated from the Police Academy last week.

• Cody Taylor, who also is an Andalusian who graduated from the Police Academy last week.

• Chris Byrd, who was not at the meeting, also has joined the APD. Byrd previously worked with the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and Gantt Police Department.
