John H. Hogg, Jr.

Mr. John H. Hogg, Jr., 85, of Brent, Ala., formerly of Dozier, passed away Fri., Aug. 29, 2014.

Graveside services were held Tues., Sept. 2, 2014, at Good Hope Cemetery in Dozier with the Rev. Greg Hyche and the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Hogg was born Aug. 18, 1929, to John H. and Mae Brook Hogg, Sr. He was a member of Brent Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had a great love for God, his family, and his country; and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hogg of Brent; his sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and Faith Hogg of Ft. Deposit, and Johnny and Loretta Hogg of Brent; one sister, Hazel Rawls of Dozier; grandchildren, Staci and Daron Wilson, John A. Hogg, and Laura (Ross) Nichols; and three great-grandchildren, Halyn Nichols, Drew Wilson, and Meri Beth Wilson.

Lois Morris Holmes

Mrs. Lois Morris Holmes, 88, of the Stanley community, passed away Fri., Aug. 29, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Holmes was born on June 26, 1926, to Dewey Homer Morris and Bessie Woodard Morris. She married James Holmes and the two owned and operated Holmes Pecan Company.

Funeral services were held Sun., Aug. 31, 2014, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Interment followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Lynne Holmes of the Stanley community; her grandchildren, Brett and Lori Holmes, Brandy and Paul Hudson, of Andalusia, Amanda and Chris Inabinett of Opelika, and Ashley and Justin Morgan of Andalusia; her great-grandson, Andrew Holmes of Andalusia, her great-granddaughters, Rylynne Fowler of Opelika, Avery Morgan and Ashlyn Morgan of Andalusia; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Cathy Morris of Opp.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Holmes; and sisters, Luna Greene and Eunice Hodges.
