Thanks for support of Rice and Beans

Published 1:46 am Saturday, September 20, 2014

On Sept. 15, 2012, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church began its Rice and Beans Ministry. On the third Saturday of each month since then, three pounds of rice and two pounds of dried beans, a loaf of bread, and a bag of canned and packaged staples has been given and a hot breakfast served to those who come. We know we cannot meet all the needs of the hungry in our community, but our aim is simply to help fill some of the empty spots in family cupboards in Andalusia.

With God’s help, over the last two years we have distributed approximately 20,000 pounds of food and served approximately 2,500 breakfasts. We know we could not have done this without the help of many wonderful folks in our community. So, as we begin another year of this ministry, we want to thank our guests who have become our friends, those individuals and groups who have made financial contributions or conducted food drives, those individuals who have come to work with us, and all those who participated in our Mardi Gras 5K. You are all important parts of this ministry!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your help and support!

In Christ’s Love,

Cynthia Carter Howard+ Rector, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church
