The Opp Bobcats’ junior running back Raheem “Hammer” Bonam had a career night Friday against the Cottage Hill Warriors, earning Player of the Week honors in the Bobcats’ 40-22 win.

“I couldn’t have done it without my teammates,” said Bonam. “I knew my team really needed me to step up with the injuries.”

Bonam had three rushing scores and 216 yards on 15 carries. Bonam had touchdown runs of 1, 33 and 62 yards. Bonam now has 787 yards on the season and 8 touchdowns.

Bonam’s coach Brent Hill had nothing but good things to say about him. “Couldn’t ask for a better young man to coach,” said Hill.

“I’m going to try and do the same thing this week,” said Bonam.

Bonam and the Bobcats will face the undefeated Elba Tigers Friday night for the final regular season game. The following Friday, the Bobcat’s will host the Lamar County Bulldogs for the first round of the AHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
