Lady Tigers lose heartbreaker to Lady Rebels

The Red Level Lady Tigers lost a close game to the Houston Academy Lady Rebels 38-34 Wednesday in Straughn.

The Lady Tigers started off strong in the first period by finishing strong around the basket and getting good pressure on the the Lady Rebels’ shooters. At the end of the first period, the Lady Tigers led 12-10.

The lead was lost in the second period with the Lady Tigers missing free throws, and allowing too many offensive rebounds. At half time, the Lady Rebels held a 18-17 lead.

The Lady Tigers stepped up strong in the third, but even applying good pressure wasn’t enough to keep the Lady Rebels from hitting most of their shots. The Lady Rebels held a slim 29-24 lead heading into the final period.

The Lady Tigers never gave up, and continued to fight their way back into the game. Their effort ultimately came up on the short end of a 38-34 final score.

“We have to make shots, and we have got to hit free throws,” Lady Tigers’ head coach Allen Catrett. “Defensively we have got to be in the correct position every time, not most of the time, but every time.”

Kayla Hinson was the leading scorer for the Lady Tigers with 16 points. Shelby Holley added 12 points for the Lady Tigers.
