ROGER L. “CHIEF”

KILPATRICK

1202-Kilpatrick-ObitMr. Roger L. “Chief” Kilpatrick, 67, a long time resident of Ozark, passed away Sat., Nov. 29, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Scott Hannen officiating.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mr. Kilpatrick was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Opp, and he was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1966 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1972. Following his military service he was employed with Hayes, Sikorsky, DynCorp and at the time of his retirement in 2010 he was working with AFS as a sheetmetal aircraft mechanic. Mr. Kilpatrick was of the Ma-Chis Lower Creek Indian Tribe of Alabama, and he has done extensive genealogical research on his family heritage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ora Lee Kilpatrick; and his sister, Virginia Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Kilpatrick; his sons, Wesley (Shan) Kilpatrick, Donovan (Donna) Kilpatrick, Marvin L. (Shanell) Bell, Roger Lennon Kilpatrick and Keith (Audrey) Kilpatrick; his mother, Sallie Mae Kilpatrick; his grandchildren, April (Davis) McDaniel, Joshua Gray, Mary Kilpatrick, Brandy Bell, Emily Ann Williams, Madison Bell, Grayson Williams, Savannah Roessel, Kaden Kilpatrick, Konnor Kilpatrick, Karson Kilpatrick and Sebastian Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren, Blayne McDaniel, Taylor Grace McDaniel and Rylan McDaniel; two brothers, Johnny Kilpatrick and Donnie Kilpatrick; two sisters, Catherine Doran and Barbara Stanford; and several nieces and nephews.

 

LARRY BRADLEY

HERRINGTON

Mr. Larry Bradley Herrington, 69, of the Carolina community, passed away Sat., Nov. 29, 2014, in the Andalusia Manor nursing facility.

Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 2 from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Kelley officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Herrington; his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Tracie Herrington of the Carolina community; five grandchildren, Frankie Clauser, Andrea Herrington, Ashton Herrington, Austin Herrington and Jaden Herrington; a great-grandchild, Larry Clauser; one brother, Joe Herrington of Pascagoula, Miss.; and sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Doug Frame, of Olive Branch, Miss.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Herrington, Jason Herrington, Justin Herrington, Alan Frame, Rickey Clauser and Evan Yates.

LADONNA LAVON

MCCARTHY

Mrs. Ladonna Lavon McCarthy, 74, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Nov. 29, 2014, at her residence.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.

Survivors include her sons, Paul, Joseph and Frederick Fowler; daughter, Paula Forte; brother, Charles Spaulding; sisters, Karen Eder, Cheryl Cotton and Linda Varner; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

 

SANDRA JANE TODD

Mrs. Sandra Jane Todd, 50, passed away on Sat., Nov. 29, 2014, in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.

She was born on Feb. 29, 1964, was a military wife and lived in the U.S. for 30 years.

She resided in Gantt and Straughn prior to going back to England.

A celebration of her life for friends and family will be Sat., Dec. 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Gantt Town Hall.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Todd; three sons, Gunnery Sgt. Nicholas Romer USMC (Hannah) of Texas, Simon Todd (Heather) of Opp and Danial Todd of Alabama; and one daughter, Charlene Todd of Birmingham.

Mrs. Todd was blessed with grandchildren, Margaret Jewell, Alexis Todd, Jocelyn James, Jason Todd, Dannika Romer, Sophia Todd, Mattis Romer and Flyn Todd. She has two brother, David Duquid and Graeme Reed, and one sister, Pauline Cox, all of England. She will be buried by her mother in England.

 

BRUNIZE DUNCAN PARISH

1202-Parish-obitMrs. Brunize Duncan Parish, 89, of Opp, passed away on Wed., Nov. 26, 2014, at Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parish were Sat., Nov. 29, by Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Wayne Sharpe.

She is preceaded in death by her parents, Levi and Rose Duncan; and her husband, James E. Parish.

Mrs. Parish is survived by her sons, Jerry Parish (Dianne) of Crestview, Fla. and Joey Parish (Donna) of Opp; daughters, Diane Lawerence (Tim), of Opp and Janie Hudson (Michael), of Andalusia; sisters, Rudell Thomas, of Orlando, Fla. and Bernice Respress, of Atmore; sister-in-law, Bonnie Harrison of Opp; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenny Duncan, Benny Respress, Tony Norris, Jeremy Parish, Rod Tyree and Ray Sellers.

 

JESSIE L. JOHNSON

Mr. Jessie L. Johnson, 75, died on Wed., Nov. 12, 2014, in a Tampa, Fla., hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born in Aug. 27, 1939, in Greenville to the late Tessie L. Sanford and Melvin Johnson, and raised in Andalusia.

A funeral service will be held at the Andalusia Comfort Inn Conference Room on MLK Expressway at 1 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 6, 2014.

He leaves to cherish his life, his wife Janice Johnson of Tampa; sister, Willie M. Stroud of Andalusia; stepdaughter and stepgranddaughter of Tampa; a dear friend, Helen Neal Ali of Tampa; and a host of cousins.
