Straughn earns championship berth

The Straughn Tigers advanced to the tournament championship with a 68-45 victory over the Zion Chapel Rebels.

 

At the end of the first period, the Tigers pounced out front 18-8.

 

The Tigers added 13 more points in the second period to take a 31-19 lead into half time. Rollin Kinsaul displayed patience and precision shooting to pace the Tigers.

 

In the third period Brice Scott got the hot hand, and helped widen the lead to 49-31.

 

In the fourth period the Tigers had their best scoring, totaling 19 points, to defeat the Rebels 68-45.

 

Kinsaul and Scott led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points each. Marshall Farley and Tucker Lawless each added 13 points for the well-rounded Tigers.

 

The Tigers will face Daleville today at 1:30 p.m. for the Straughn Christmas tournament championship. Zack Maio contributed stats to this article.
