Williamson lifts Lady Tigers past Georgiana

The Straughn Lady Tigers knocked off the Georgiana Lady Bulldogs 65-49 Tuesday night in Georgiana.

 

The Lady Tigers fell behind after the first period, 16-15. Straughn’s Jacie Williamson went 2-for-2 from the free throw line, and added three baskets for a total of 8 points in the period.

 

The Lady Bulldogs keep in close in the second period, but allowed the Lady Tigers to tie the game up at 32-32 heading into halftime. Brentley Armstrong went 2-fo-2 from the line in the second, and Paige Taylor went 2-for-4. Taylor had 4 points for the Lady Tigers in the second period. Williamson had 6 points, but went 0-for-2 from the line.

 

It didn’t take long in third period for the Lady Tigers to assert their dominance on the Lady Bulldogs. Janelle Nurse hit a big 3-pointer, and Williamson added 8 more points to her night’s total. At the end of the third period, the Lady Tigers were on top 49-38.

 

The Lady Tigers were able to close the door on the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth for the victory. Armstrong finished with a solid 7 points in the final period, including a 3-pointer. Williamson had 7 points as well in the final period, and she went 1-for-3 from the line. The Lady Tigers improved to 10-2 on the season with a 65-49 victory.

 

Williamson led all scorers with 29 points, and Armstrong finished with a strong, 13 points.

 

The Lady Tigers will be back in action Mon., Dec. 22, when T.R. Miller comes to Straughn.
