Straughn High School junior Kayla Mitchell participated in Gov. Robert Bentley’s 2015 Inaugural Parade on Monday.

Agriculture Commissioner John McMillan invited 4-H State Council Members to be a part of the inaugural festivities and the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s civil rights movement.

The 4-H teens began their day with a light breakfast at the RSA Activity Center just a few blocks from the state capitol on Dexter Avenue. Afterward, they attended the swearing-in ceremony where they were able to hear elected officials speak about their desires for Alabama. It was a wonderful opportunity for these future leaders and an experience they will not soon forget.
