Two days after the IRS began accepting 2015 tax returns, local tax services like Jackson Hewitt are urging people to start filing their taxes as soon as they compile all the necessary information. The last day to file taxes is on April 15.

“They haven’t said yet how busy they expect this branch to be since this is our first year open,” said Tiwana Luckie of Jackson Hewitt, located on the bypass. “We have seven other branches around, each with their own projections based on last year’s numbers, but they have told us that they expect to see an increase.”

Luckie said that the location on the bypass hasn’t been nearly as busy as their location at Wal-Mart has been.

“This location is brand new, and we haven’t long lines like our Wal-Mart location has seen,” Luckie said.

Luckie said that individualswho would like to file their taxes with Jackson Hewitt should bring any forms sent from lending agencies; the IRS, mortgage interest and any legal document regarding taxes even if they don’t think it will help their return. Any documents from employers such as W-2 and 1099 forms also are necessary. Those who are self employed and don’t receive a 1099 form you can bring in their receipts.

Luckie said that walk-ins are welcome, but that appointments can be made by calling the main office at (251)-942-6601.

Hours for the bypass location are from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Wal-Mart location’s hours are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays.
