Truck drivers, registered nurses and retail supervisors are among the most available jobs in Alabama, according to the Department of Labor.

Data collected through the departments’ Labor Market Information Division showed that in December 5,800 online help wanted ads were placed for those occupations.

The data includes online job postings throughout the state, includes those posted on the state’s joblink database.

There were more than 41,000 ads posted last month.

According to a release from the department of labor, heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers can earn an average of $19.40 per hour; registered nurses earn a mean wage of $27.49 per hour and first-line supervisors of retail workers earn an average wage of $19.23 per hour.

“It’s important to track these types of employees employers are looking for, so that we are better able to prepare jobseekers for employment, via vocational or educational training,” Fitzgerald Washington, commissioner of the state department of labor, said. “The types of jobs being advertised each month are jobs with good salaries. Six of the top 10 jobs have hourly wages about $20.”

The top 10 occupations posted online are:

• heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers, which pays $19.40 per hour;

• registered nurses, $27.49;

• first-line supervisors of retail sales workers, $19.23;

“We’d like to encourage anyone who needs a job, or wants a different job, to come into one of our career centers for assistance,” Washington said. “Our trained staff can assist you in obtaining the career you want.”
