LBW Community College is preparing for high school seniors to visit at all campus locations in February for College 101.

“We welcome these young men and women to our campuses as they begin to prepare for their college experience,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel.

College 101 is set for each Friday in February and students can choose to attend one or more campus locations. Feb. 6 and 27 will bring seniors to the Andalusia campus, with Feb. 13 set for Opp and Feb. 20 in Greenville, said Heather Owen, director of recruitment.

“These are always exciting days for our College,” said Owen. “We have the opportunity to introduce LBWCC to seniors as they plan their next educational step. While on our campuses, they will learn how to apply for financial aid and scholarships, the various academic and technical programs available, meet instructors, and tour the campus.”

In addition, students will learn about Student Support Services, a federally-funded TRIO program available to first-generation college students and students with disabilities. The program is committed to assisting college students succeed by offering a wide range of academic, cultural, and social activities, assistance with college requirements, supplemental instruction, tutorial services, mentoring, basic study skills and other activities that motivate students to complete postsecondary education.

“Our instructors are excited about meeting students who may be in their classes this summer or fall,” said Owen. “This is a great opportunity for incoming college freshmen and we encourage all high school seniors to participate.”
