2nd woman charged with sodomy, rape

An Opp woman is behind bars after she allegedly had sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16.

Opp Police Assistant Chief Kevin Chance said Tuesday that the OPD launched an investigation on Jan. 26, after it was reported that a 30-year-old female was having sexual contact with a minor under 16.

Chance said that upon an indepth investigation, investigators with the OPD arrested and charged Kristina L. Burroughs with rape II and sodomy II.

Burroughs was taken to the Covington County jail and held on a $400,000 bond.

Chance said the case remains under investigation by the OPD and the Covington County Department of Human Resources.

This is the second case of rape II and sodomy II in Opp since the weekend.

On Saturday, Tiffany Blair was arrested and charged with sodomy II, rape II and four counts of chemical endangerment.

Chance said the two cases are not related.

Rape in the second degree and sodomy in the second degree are Class B felonies. Class B felonies carry sentences of no less than two year and no more than 20 years.
