In the top of the fifth, the Saints tacked on a six-spot to take an 11-3 lead.

Faulkner State closed the gap to 11-8 in the bottom of the sixth inning, but those were the last runs the Sun Chiefs managed.

Houston Mabray entered the game with one out in the bottom of the fifth, and shut the door on any hopes the Sun Chiefs had of making a comeback.

Mabray faced 13 batters, only allowing one hit and striking out four.

The Saints added one run in the top of the seventh, and the final run came across in the top of the ninth to give the Saints a 13-8 victory.

Offensively, Charlie Spencer who went 2-for-5 with four RBIs led the Saints.

Michael Tedford showed patience at the plate, and went 2-for-2 with four walks.

Saints’ catcher Houston Davenport drove in two runs despite not having a hit.

The Saints and the Sun Chiefs will be back in action today on Crum Foshee Field at LBW.
