Weekend crash claims area woman’s life

A two-vehicle crash Fri., March 20, claimed the life of an Elba woman and injured one man.

Betty Layton Morris, 68, was killed when the 2005 Chrysler in which she was a passenger collided with a 2006 Ford F-250. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chrysler, 76-year-old Cicero Eugene Morris of Elba, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Ford, Corey Acee Dean Parker of New Brockton, was not injured.

The crash occurred at 9:38 p.m. on Alabama 167 at the intersection of Coffee County 114. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate this crash.

Morris pastored at Praise and Glory Worship Center, 2593 County Road 104 in Elba.

Funeral services for Morris will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Tues.,

March 24, 2015, beginning at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Nelson Kimberly officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Hayes Funeral
