Gitty-Up-N-Go is the title sponsor for this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life event.

The event is slated for April 24, at 6 p.m., at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds.

“The title sponsor is our largest sponsor,” said Amanda Wise, sponsor chair.

Chris Mohon of Gitty-Up-N-Go said its something his company always does.

“We always give back to the community,” he said. “The community is always good to us.”

This year’s goal is $100,000, and money raised goes to help locals with needs.

Wise said that 47 patients were served in Covington County thanks to the funds raised at last year’s Relay for Life event.

Additionally, 70 services for fuel assistance to help patients travel back and forth for treatment were also donated.

Patients spent 245 nights at Hope Lodge in Birmingham, three wigs were given and 12 gifts such as scarves, hats and prosthesis were given.

This year’s theme is “Lights. Camera. Cure.”

There are currently 21 teams signed up and this year’s goal is to have 20-25 teams.
