Later, he became a businessman in Pensacola, where they became members of Heights Baptist Church. Six months before graduating, they were called as missionaries to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, in the Cayman Islands, where they served for 40 years and nine months.

During these years, Brother King, as he was fondly called, was not only the pastor of his churches, but was instrumental in building a hospital, blasting a road across the bluff, building a dock, drilling wells, starting a rest home and building a church — Hillside Chapel. God used him in many ways, both physically and spiritually, to minister and serve the people of the Cayman Islands who he loved so much.
