Lady Tigers finish 2nd in KLD

Straughn knocked off Pleasant Home 7-1 Saturday in the Kirsten L. Dean softball tournament to earn a spot in the championship game against LAMP, where the host Tigers fell 3-2.

 

Straughn took a 2-0 lead into the final inning of the championship game, but LAMP rallied within its final at-bat to win 3-2.

 

In the first game against PHS, the Lady Tigers wasted no time getting started when Katelyn Kinsaul singled to start the bottom of the first, and Kristen Peavey drove in Kinsaul with a single.

 

Brentley Armstrong followed with an RBI single that drove in Jacie Williamson.

 

Colby Adams drove in Peavey and Armstrong with a two-out single to give the Lady Tigers a 4-0 lead.

 

Cassidy Godwin doubled to start the top of the second, and Taylor McGhee drove in Godwin for the Lady Eagles’ lone run of the contest.

 

For the second straight inning, Kinsaul led off with a single. Kinsaul then came around to score on a fielder’s choice from Molly Stewart.

 

Paige Taylor led off the bottom of the third with a double, and came around to score on a single by Adams.

 

Armstrong drove in the Lady Tigers’ final run with a single that plated Stewart from second.

 

Hayden Willis picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Tigers.

 

Adams was 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs. Armstrong was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Lady Tigers.
