Jerran Williams has been a big part of the Tigers’ success this season.

Red Level demolished Georgiana in the first round of the AHSAA Class 1A state playoffs last weekend, and hopes to carry that momentum in the second round when they host J.U. Blacksher, which begins today in Red Level.

Round two will not be as easy of a match up for the Tigers as round one was against the Panthers.

The Bulldogs enter round two with an impressive 21-4 record on the season, and knocked out the Pleasant Home Eagles 10-0 and 3-0 in the first round of the state playoffs.

For Red Level, the Tigers will be leaning on the pitching game to try and offset the Bulldogs potent offense.

One of those pitchers for the Tigers will be Jerran Williams, who has been magnificent on the mound for the Tigers.

In round one, Williams threw a no-hitter against Georgiana, and struck out nine batters in five innings as the Tigers hammered the Panthers in just five innings.

Williams isn’t just one of the top pitchers for the Tigers, he is also one the Tigers’ best hitters. Williams racked up several hits in round one, including a triple that set the Tigers up to 10-run rule the Panthers.

Also helping out with the stick is junior slugger Jeffery Perdue. Perdue had several clutch hits in the first round, and drove in multiple runs in both games.

RLHS head coach Tony Ingram said that the guys understand the challenge ahead of them, and they are determined that is not where their season will end.

First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1 p.m., with game two slated for 3 p.m.
