J.U. Blacksher used a fast start to beat Red Level 12-0 on Saturday in Red Level, eliminating the Tigers in the second round of the Class 1A AHSAA state playoffs.

Blacksher raced out front in the top of the first inning with the help of a few errors from the Tigers, and by the time the dust settled the Bulldogs held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first.

In the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs added three more runs off a walk, two base hits and an error by the Tigers.

Andrew Redditt led off with a walk, and later came around to score on a double by Dakota Barlow. Tanner Weaver then drove in Sage Baggett with a sacrifice fly to center, and Weaver scored on off a two-out error to give the Bulldogs a 9-0 advantage.

The Tigers’ best chance for runs came in the bottom of the second when the Tigers loaded up the bases with just one out. However, a scorching line drive off the bat of Ethan Jordan was snagged by the Bulldogs’ second baseman, who turned and fired to first for a double play to end the Tigers’ threat.

Blacksher added another run in the top of the third inning when Baggett drove in Cooper Dean to put the Bulldogs up 10-0.

Barlow scored off of an error in the top of the fourth to give the Bulldogs an 11-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs final run of the contest came off another error by the Tigers, and put the Bulldogs up 12-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Jordan reached first with two outs after being hit by a pitch then made it around to third on a single from Hunter Carpenter, but the Tigers just couldn’t find that hit they needed to plate a run.

With the game three loss, the Tigers’ season comes to an end.
