Events on tap today to celebrate July 4th

Residents have plenty of activities to choose from as the nation celebrates the Fourth of July today.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their second annual Fourth of July Parade at 10 a.m. today, July 4, in downtown Andalusia.

Participants will parade from the First Baptist Church down Three Notch Street to the Veteran’s Memorial.

The City of Andalusia will host a Fourth of July celebration on the fairgrounds at the Kiwanis Community Center.

A band will provide entertainment, and free watermelon will be available as long as supplies last. Concessions also are planned. The firework show will begin at dark.

Opp’s annual Fourth of July event is set for Lake Frank Jackson at 10 a.m. Fireworks are planned for dark-thirty.
