WILLIAM M. “BILL” BENSON

A memorial reception for William M.“Bill” Benson, 81, of West Monroe, La., will be held on Fri., July 24, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Chef Eric Johnson and Co., 222 Blanchard Street, West Monroe, LA, for friends and acquaintances. A private family service will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the same location under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.

Mr. Benson was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Klamath Falls, Ore., and passed away on July 19, 2015, in West Monroe.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed in the plywood industry business for more than 40 years, and in his later years owned Framed by Bill frame shop on Trenton Street in West Monroe. Mr. Benson loved playing tennis and watching West Monroe High School and Alabama football. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Byrne Benson.

Mr. Benson is survived by his wife, Betty Benson; sons; Mark Benson and wife, Anne, Max Benson and wife, Stephanie, David Benson and wife, Lana, and Drew Benson; grandchildren, Leslie Riley, Will Benson, Beth Robinson, Abby Hunter, Jana Benson, Luke Benson and Beau Benson.

TRUDIE ANNELLE BETTS

Mrs. Trudie Annelle Betts, 67, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., July 20, 2015, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Wed., July 22, 2015, at the Dixie Community Church with Judge Ashley McKathan officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Sidney McKathan of the Pleasant Home community; her sons, Scott Slaymaker and Rob Slaymaker, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Amber Slaymaker and Christopher Wagoner; two great-grandchildren, Reagan Wagoner and Corbin Slaymaker; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mike Fields of Decatur, Ill.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Julie Nix of Milton, Fla.
