The Pleasant Home Eagles season opener didn’t go as played as they fell 47-0 to Class 2A New Brockton.

“They were good,” Eagles’ coach Chris Mason said. “We just couldn’t move the ball.”

The Eagles finished the night with 8 yards passing and 4 yards rushing. They finished with 104 yards on special teams.

Leading the way for the Eagles on defense, was Garrett Barton and Josh Ruth both finishing with five tackles.

New Brockton had 262 yards on 45 carries, and 185 yards passing.

“It was a total meltdown on defense,” Mason said. “Defense played well until late. They just wore us down. They are a good team, they were really physical and they flew to the ball. We never quit, though.”

The Eagles will be on the road next week for a region game with McKenzie.
