The Andalusia Police Department has announced the placement of three new stop signs at the intersection of Roosevelt Drive and Fifth Avenue.

The stop signs replace yield signs, and are designed to help with the flow of traffic from Andalusia Junior High School onto Roosevelt Drive.

“We are informing the public to be aware that the signs have changed and there will be officers in the area enforcing the stop sign law,” Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said. “The signs were changed to offer better safety around the school and neighborhood.

“We have also placed no parking signs on Berry Avenue between Henderson Street and MLK Jr. Expressway,” Hudson said. “Delta Lighting has offered to let people visiting friends and family on that street have use of their parking lot to keep them from violating the no parking signs. They ask if you use their parking lot to park by the curb next to Berry Avenue so you do not interrupt their business.”
