6th Habitat build starts today

Covington County Habitat will start the build on its sixth home today on Opp Ave. in Andalusia.

Covington County Habitat will start the build on its sixth home today on Opp Ave. in Andalusia.

Covington County Habitat for Humanity will begin construction of its sixth home at 7 a.m. today, Fri., Sept. 4.

The home’s owners will be Jimmy and Nancy Shelton, and it will built on the former home place of Jimmy’s mother.

HFH publicity chairman Kylan Lewis said volunteers are asked to check in at Northside Baptist Church, and buses and golf carts will transport them to the build site at 209 Opp Ave. in Andalusia.

Volunteers are needed on Sept. 4, 5, 11 and 12, he said, adding that no special skills are needed.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. on each build day, Lewis said.

Meals for volunteers will be provided by David’s Catfish, Church’s Chicken, Billy Joe Stallworth, and White and McClung.
