Donations are needed to help feed the ever-growing crowd committed to hearing Mike Lutzenkirchen’s story of his son Phillip, who was a former Auburn football star.

Phillip, 23, died in a car wreck in Troup County, near LaGrange, Ga.

Mike will be the keynote speaker at the fourth annual recovery month rally held Sept. 9, at Southside Baptist Church.

Organizer Staci Wilson said church members are going to cook and Coca-Cola is going to donate some drinks to help.

More than 300 have committed to come and that doesn’t include church members and last-minute folks, she said.

“It would be awesome if some churches would donate some cakes, too,” she said.

Wilson said those interested in helping can call 428-5050.

The event is free to the public.

Dinner will begin at 5 p.m., and the keynote portion will be at 6:30 p.m.
