Homer “Gene” Jones

Homer “Gene” Jones, age 75, of Andalusia passed away on Mon., Sept. 21, 2015 in Gainesville, Ga.

Gene was born on May 22, 1940, in Covington County to the late Homer Washington and Alfie Green Jones. He served in the U.S. military during the Korean War. He retired from MARTA in Atlanta. Following his retirement, he began service as a Senior Reserve Officer with the Covington County Sheriff Office in Andalusia. He also spent countless hours working with the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and Andalusia Ford. He enjoyed his animals and family and tinkering is his shop.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Odessa Hammonds and Brother-in-law Riley Hammonds.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tera Jones; son, Jason Jones; grandson, Jeremy Jones; brother, Cecil (Barbara) Jones; stepson, Cyrus Allen, step-grandchild, Cyrus Allen, Jr.; stepdaughter, Shannon (Richard) Hilliard; nephews, Eugene Hammonds, Roger Hammonds, Johnny Hammonds, Ronnie Wayne Hammonds, and Michael George Jones; and nieces, Vickie Huffmaster, Tammy Spann, Teresa Mosley, Debbie Coffee, Rhonda Moore, and Edra Faye Jones.

A celebration of life service will held on Sun., Sept. 27, 2015, at noon eastern time in the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga..

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Sacred Heart Cancer Center in Andalusia, Alabama or Andalusia Lodge F & AM #434 or for those who desire online condolences at www.littledavenport.com.

Little & Davenport Funeral Home and Crematory, Gainesville, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.

 

Patricia McGehee Lewis

Mrs. Patricia McGehee Lewis, age 77, of Evergreen, passed away on Sept. 21, 2015, at her residence.

Pattie Lewis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted teacher for more than 40 years. She held a bachelors degree from the University of Alabama and a masters degree in teaching from Tulane University.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., Sept. 23, 2015, at Evergreen First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, William McGehee (Ashley) Russell of New Orleans La.; her daughter, Katherine Russell (Tim) Dantz of Andalusia; and her grandchildren, Brooks and Alden Russell and Lucile Ellis Dantz.

Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, F. Emmett Russell of New Orleans, La., and her second husband of 22 years, William David Lewis of Evergreen.c

Charles Anderson “Andy” Little, Jr.

Mr. Charles Anderson “Andy” Little, Jr., 59, of Opp passed away Sun., Sept. 20, 2015, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

A graveside service was held at 4 p.m. Mon., Sept. 21, from Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Karthaus officiating. Visitation was at 2:30 prior to services at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Little of Opp; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin Anderson and Amanda Little of Andalusia; step-son and daughter-in-law, John Benjamin and Lori Foreman of Andalusia; five grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Jill Little of Andalusia; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Rhett Enzor of Andalusia; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Nancy Little of Andalusia.

Pallbearers will include Buddy Brannon, Lee Williams, Mickey Goodson, Rob Martin, Dale Glisson, and Shane Lord.
