Opp hammers Excel

The Bobcats faced a must-win in order to keep their chances of hosting a playoff game alive and got one in a big way, 52-6 over Excel.

 

Opp got on the board early in the first quarter on a Hennis Washington 7-yard run.

 

Orlando Lacey connected with Reggie Thompson for the first of two scores for a 12-0 lead. Opp closed out the first quarter blocking an Excel punt with Tye Lindsey returning it for a touchdown. Lacey scored on a 6-yard run for the only of touchdown of the second quarter for a 26-0 Bobcat lead at the break.

 

Lacey connected with Thompson for the second time in the game to start the second half. The Bobcat defense put up the next points when Evan King picked off a Panther pass and returned it for the score. Washington scored for the second time early in the fourth.

 

Opp converted its first successful PAT of the game and a 45-0 lead early in the fourth.

 

After giving up a touchdown to Excel, the Bobcats punched it in the end zone one last time when EJ Reed scored with three minutes to go.

 

Opp got the big win 52-6.

 

“We played a complete game tonight on both sides of the ball,” said Bobcat coach Brent Hill following the game.

 

The Bobcats play host to Bayside Academy next week for homecoming in a big region contest.
