An Opp woman jailed in January for allegedly having sex with a minor child, providing illegal drugs to a minor child and using illegal drugs in the presence of a minor child pleaded guilty before her case was heard by the grand jury.

Tiffany Blair, 36, pleaded guilty to rape II before Circuit Judge Ashley McKathan.

She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Blair was initially charged with four counts of chemical endangerment, rape II and sodomy II.

Rape in the second degree is a Class B felony.

According to the district attorney’s office, the case was initiated after Blair admitted to friends she was involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy, who was a friend of her son.

The Opp Police Department and Covington County Department of Human Resources conducted a joint investigation, interviewing multiple witnesses.

When OPD investigator Heather Koerner questioned both Blair and the 15-year-old boy, they admitted to having sexual intercourse several times.

“Investigating sex crimes is taxing work,” said District Attorney Walt Merrell. “It takes someone who is a strong person as well as a good investigator. Heather is both, and we are fortunate to have her in Covington County. Because of Heather’s thorough investigation, Blair pled guilty, which meant a 15-year-old didn’t have to testify in open court about sexual acts.”

Upon her release from prison, Blair will be required to comply with the sex offender registration and notification act.

She was one of four women arrested in Opp for sex-related crimes earlier this year.
